When deciding on a brood mare, we will first look at her pedigree and not what she has done on the track. What is in her blood is more important to us than what she has earned. Now please don’t get me wrong… if I could have a mare that has made a million plus dollars and contains the magical blood crosses, I would perform a back flip on the courthouse steps during lunch hour (my back flips are horrible) but these Brood mares are grabbed up very quickly by operations with big pockets for lots of money. Remember our theory? If the bloodlines are present then winners will also be present even if we don’t produce stakes winners. It will produce useful horses that we can have fun with for a price that is affordable.
